North Texas Performing Arts Announces Silver Theatre For Seniors 62+

A Stage for Seniors to Shine – It’s Never Too Late!

By Danielle Shermer | Contributor

North Texas Performing Arts recently announces the launch of its new NTPA Silver Theatre, a dedicated theatre company for adults aged 62 and older who want to take the stage, join a cast, and experience the thrill of live performance. This new initiative continues NTPA’s vision to make the stage accessible to everyone—joining the ranks of its acclaimed NTPA Deaf Theatre, Starcatchers Theatre for actors with disabilities, and the underserved.

“This program isn’t just about theatre—it’s about creating a community of fun-loving seniors who want to laugh, learn, and live life to the fullest,” says NTPA CEO Darrell Rodenbaugh. “We believe everyone should have the opportunity to take the stage, whether you’re 65 or 95, there’s a place for you in NTPA Silver Theatre, and the spotlight is waiting!”

NTPA Silver Theatre will be led by veteran NTPA Resident Director Zayde Vetter, who brings years of experience working in assisted living and senior care communities, with a deep understanding of the interests, needs, and abilities of older adults.

“There are two major passions in my life— theatre and working with kids and senior citizens,” says NTPA Silver Theatre Program Director Vetter. “Silver Theatre combines my love for the stage with my belief in the joy, creativity, and community that seniors can bring to a production.”

The Silver Theatre’s inaugural production will be Guys and Dolls, based on Music Theatre International’s “Senior Theatre” adaptation. Opening February 13, 2026, this first show will kick off a full season of NTPA Silver Theatre productions. Rehearsals will be held twice per week during the day, with each production offering four performances.

Participants will enjoy the social, emotional, and health benefits that come from the performing arts—including improved memory, flexibility, posture, and balance—while building lasting friendships in a vibrant, welcoming community. Opportunities will be available for seasoned performers and first-timers alike, with roles on stage, behind the scenes, and in technical support.

Auditions are now open for Guys and Dolls, and interested patrons can find more information, view rehearsal schedules, and sign up to audition at ntpa.org/SILVER.
